When Haley Reinhart and Myles Kennedy sing together, it’s a beautiful thing, but when you add Guns N’ Roses legend Slash to the mix, it’s just perfection. The trio paired up for a nostalgic acoustic rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses” for Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday that went uber viral. Viewers had to agree that this is exactly how you should cover a much-loved classic. It’s no secret that Reinhart and Kennedy are two of the top vocal talents in the biz, and hearing them together was truly sublime.
Reinhart opened the song with a yearning vocal with a whole lotta soul. Reinhart and Kennedy did not disappoint when it came time for the main hook, as the pair dropped an ethereal harmony that will def give you chills. Kennedy sounded dreamy on his smoky second verse, and Slash accentuated the song with some melodic leads from the three minute mark onward. The Music Man has to say that such a unique band as the Stones is not easy to cover, but this trio was all over it!

The trio’s “Wild Horses” cover really did some numbers on YouTube, as it gained 8.3 million views on the ‘Tube. Fans gave plenty of love for the cover, adding comments such as “Hayley has such a beautiful voice. Myles has one of the best voices on the planet and Slash is a true legend. Loved this performance” and “If you’re gonna take on one of the most beautiful songs ever written by the biggest band on the planet, do it exactly like this!! Amazing trio.”
Slash and Kennedy have produced a number of tasty acoustic performances over the years. One of the pair’s viral cuts came when they dropped a rendition of Velvet Revolver’s finest tune “Fall to Pieces,” which hit 10 million views on YouTube. The pair performed with Kennedy’s Conspirators band, giving the performance a fuller sound. This allowed Slash to really go to town on the solo, and he gives some Clapton Unplugged vibes on this one.
Guns N’ Roses fans among The Music Man readership will know that Slash has a bit of history with “Wild Horses.” Gunners covered the ballad during their Use Your Illusion World Tour, including a memorable pro shot performance in Tokyo in 1992. The song was used as a feature duet for Slash and rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke, with Slash dropping plenty of big licks.
